The issue caused by the Google Play system update that slowed down Android phones has been resolved
Google released the May 2024 Play System update for Android phones in the last week of April. This update included features like seamless transfer of Google Meet video calls between devices and password sharing with family members in Google Password Manager.
However, this update caused an unexpected slowdown issue on some Android devices, particularly the Galaxy S23 and other models. App launch times were extended, and overall performance dropped. Samsung acknowledged this slowdown issue on its community forum in South Korea and provided a temporary solution. Company moderators noted that you might notice slowdowns after using your phone for a long time following this update. So, how to fix the Android phone slowdown issue?
The temporary solution for the slowdown issue on Android phones is to restart your phone. Even if you need to restart your phone during the update installation, Google recommends restarting it again after a few hours in this case.
If you haven’t done so yet, you might want to avoid installing the May 2024 Play System update on your Galaxy phone to prevent experiencing these slowdown issues. Since June has started, Google’s Play System update for this month will be released soon and will likely address this slowdown issue.
This is the second problem Galaxy device owners have faced in the past week. Previously, a Google Meet update caused the Samsung Messages app to crash. At the end of March, the One UI 6.1 update caused touchscreen issues on the Galaxy S23 series. Fortunately, Google continues to provide solutions to these problems.
